Texas Soaring Association Proving Grounds

The Texas Soaring Association (TSA) is one of the oldest gliding clubs in the United States, having been founded in 1947 and today is certainly one of the largest.

TSA has approximately 180 flying members including many youth members who participate in the club’s youth soaring program.

We own our airfield just south of Midlothian, TX (TA-11). Improvements to the site over the years include a brand-new clubhouse (complete in 2022), a large tow plane hangar and workshops, covered hangar space for fifty gliders, and a 4,300-foot paved runway.

Today, TSA without question has the finest facilities of any dedicated glider operation in the United States!

We fly all year long on weekends and Thursdays with our fleet of 3 Pawnee tow planes, 3 ASK-21 trainers (primary instruction and intro only, not to be used for XC), 3 PW-5 single-seat gliders, a Duo Discus for advanced training and XC, and 2 Schweizer 1-26’s.
